The Nizamuddin area of Delhi is a special microcosm. It is a continuously living urban village that is 700 years old. And in these centuries, it has preserved its customs and traditions. And this walk is a testimony of that. Sair-e-Nizamuddin (SeN) that comprises young women and men from Nizamuddin who have been trained as heritage guides under the Nizamuddin Urban Renewal Initiative of Aga Khan Trust for Culture (in the lead role), is a demonstration of how urban renewal of a historic city can meet tourism objectives and also improve the quality of life for the local inhabitants. SeN guides have walked 41461 school children and 7873 visitors since 2010. These guides have been trained in history, heritage, English and soft skills.
In addition, the other community group under the project Zaika-e-Nizamuddin (ZeN) that comprises eleven women – who will be serving the traditional lunch of Nizamuddin.
